Lauren Brumfield graduated Cum Laude from the University of Mary Washington in 2015, and has since pursued a career in web hosting and design. As an employee of Reclaim Hosting for the last 4 years, Lauren works closely with instructors and institutions in higher education to bring flexible web space to the classroom. In her free time, Lauren takes on commissions for website designs and graphics, as well as a range of other services.

Founded in 2013, Reclaim Hosting is a web hosting company tailored primarily to higher education. // Responsible for management of sales and relationships for Reclaim Hosting accounts, including regular correspondence, invoicing, client training, and traveling as needed. Responsible for overall project management at Reclaim Hosting including updates to our task management software, assigning tasks where appropriate, and keeping track of where we are on projects to see them through to completion. Primary coordinator and key decision-maker for company projects including but not limited to several workshops, conferences and marketing campaigns. Design and maintain project websites, and curate content for social media accounts and email newsletters. Monitor support requests that come from Reclaim Hosting customers.


Reclaim Hosting, Operations Manager

June 2015 - June 2018 • Remote & Fredericksburg, Virginia

Primary coordinator and key decision-maker for company projects including but not limited to several workshops, conferences and marketing campaigns. Design and maintain project websites, and curate content for social media accounts and email newsletters. Travel to colleges and universities at their request to offer thoughtful discussion and in-person training in regards to digital literacy in the classroom. Monitor support requests that come from Reclaim Hosting customers, and have answered roughly 2,500 support tickets with 99% satisfaction rate since accepting position. Contribute to producing and maintaining support documentation in the form of written guides and video tutorials. Implemented several tools like Asana, SuiteCRM, Google Drive, and KinHR to establish and organize the internal workings and policies of the company. Created the on-boarding process for new employees. Worked remotely for the first year and a half of this position. Highly experienced in working in a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Design websites, logos and other graphics for clients, which includes brainstorming sessions with the client, working on photoshop, handling customer content, multiple rounds of revisions, and hand-coding portions of the site to meet the needs of the client. Train customers on WordPress and Squarespace platforms using demo websites to teach beginner and/or advanced material. Set up contractual website maintenance agreements with clients to handle software updates, security checks, minimal formatting changes, and content migration. 


UMW Division of Teaching & Learning Technologies, Student Aide Supervisor

Supervised all student aides at the Information Desk in UMW's Hurley Convergence Center. Created and implemented policies for student aides, handled their work schedules, and acted as a liaison between the students and the DTLT Team. Contributed to the design and management of UMW's Convergence Center website. Curated content to help market & advertise the launching of Domain of One's Own, UMW's most recent online endeavor at the time, along with other building events, policies and products. Helped design check-out system that allowed students to rent school supplies, video, camera and microphone equipment. 


The Big Issue Foundation & Magazine, Intern

Aug. 2013 - Dec. 2013 • Bath, England

The Big Issue Foundation is an initiative that helps homeless individuals learn to make and save money, understand the workings of a microbusiness, and gain advice on restarting their lives. The individuals buy The Big Issue Magazines in bulk and then sell them to the general public for a profit. Worked closely with the individuals that came to the office every morning to buy magazines, and additionally with the local homeless shelter to be able to provide proper relief and advice for the homeless. Assisted with editing of articles for the Foundation's Newsletter, which was published quarterly in The Big Issue's magazine. Created weekly bulletin for The Big Issue office, and handled a multitude of small tasks that aided in the overall success of the organization's day-to-day life.


Veritas Vineyard & Winery, Event Staff

Catered to guests and that attended formal gatherings and elaborate events including but not limited to weddings, New Years Eve masquerade balls, funerals, holiday brunches, and Summer concerts. This position also involved bartending, setting up and breaking down the event, and working with Vineyard owners, event coordinators and third-party businesses.

Domains 17 Conference, Lead Coordinator

June 5-6, 2017 • Oklahoma City, OK

Designed and coordinated an out of state Reclaim Hosting conference with 80+ attendees. Planning phase lasted 1 year; implementation phase lasted 4 days. Contributed to the design of the conference theme. Created event website and managed promotional social media accounts and hashtags. Handled call for proposals, registrations, and acceptance/rejection notifications. Created email templates, and was in charge of relaying information to all speakers and attendees. Scouted multiple venues, catering and entertainment ahead of time, and was primary contact and coordinator for all third-party companies and contracts. Worked closely with venue staff on event layout. Contributed largely to the design of a functional, 3 track, conference itinerary. Oversaw printing of flyers, registration information, and name tags. Delegated tasks to volunteers during event. Implemented unique system for dinners to make sure all guests were looked after.
