Lauren Brumfield graduated Cum Laude from the University of Mary Washington in 2015, and has since pursued a career in web hosting and design. As an employee of Reclaim Hosting for the last 4 years, Lauren works closely with instructors and institutions in higher education to bring flexible web space to the classroom. In her free time, Lauren takes on commissions for website designs and graphics, as well as a range of other services.

Supervised all student aides at the Information Desk in UMW's Hurley Convergence Center. Created and implemented policies for student aides, handled their work schedules, and acted as a liaison between the students and the DTLT Team. Curated content to help market & advertise the launching of Domain of One's Own, UMW's most recent online endeavor at the time, along with other building events, policies and products. Helped design check-out system that allowed students to rent school supplies, video, camera and microphone equipment. 


The Big Issue Foundation & Magazine, Intern

The Big Issue Foundation is an initiative that helps homeless individuals learn to make and save money, understand the workings of a microbusiness, and gain advice on restarting their lives. The individuals buy The Big Issue Magazines in bulk and then sell them to the general public for a profit. Worked closely with the individuals that came to the office every morning to buy magazines, and additionally with the local homeless shelter to be able to provide proper relief and advice for the homeless. Assisted with editing of articles for the Foundation's Newsletter, which was published quarterly in The Big Issue's magazine. Created weekly bulletin for The Big Issue office, and handled a multitude of small tasks that aided in the overall success of the organization's day-to-day life.

Domains 17 Conference, Lead Coordinator

June 5-6, 2017 • Oklahoma City, OK

Designed and coordinated an out of state Reclaim Hosting conference with 80+ attendees. Planning phase lasted 1 year; implementation phase lasted 4 days. Contributed to the design of the conference theme. Created event website and managed promotional social media accounts and hashtags. Handled call for proposals, registrations, and acceptance/rejection notifications. Created email templates, and was in charge of relaying information to all speakers and attendees. Scouted multiple venues, catering and entertainment ahead of time, and was primary contact and coordinator for all third-party companies and contracts. Worked closely with venue staff on event layout. Contributed largely to the design of a functional, 3 track, conference itinerary. Oversaw printing of flyers, registration information, and name tags. Delegated tasks to volunteers during event. Implemented unique system for dinners to make sure all guests were looked after.
